Moscow to Kazan Train Information
The Moscow - Kazan Railway route is among the most popular ones in Russia. Most of the options are overnight trains, ranging from regular to premium and double-deckers. In Moscow, trains depart from the Kazansky Railway Station, set in the city center, and arrive in the Central Station in Kazan. Often referred to as the third capital of Russia, Kazan is a real treasure trove of the Tatarstan region, often included in the famous Trans-Siberian rail journey route.
The distance from Moscow to Kazan is about 790 km (490 miles), so such a ride usually takes more than 11 hours to get from one city to the other. However, in the nearest future, the Russian railways are planning to launch a new type of train on this route which will develop the speed of 360 km per hour (225 miles per hour), going even faster than the famous Sapsan and covering the distance in just 3.5 hours.
